Air Force Enlistments Halted for 10 Days Here
Air Force enlistments have been halted here for 10 days. Recruiting office officials said the temporary ban was necessary because of the “big rush” in volenlistments. More men were coming in than could be shipped out under daily quotas. Applications are still being accepted for processing after a short waiting period. Meanwhile, an extension until Dec. 31 has been authorized for Selective Service provisions which allow men who have taken preinduction physicals to volunteer
& service in the military branch of
their choice.
34th and Emerson School Plans Approved
Architect's plans for a new Pupblic School building at 34th St. and*Emerson Ave. have been approved by the School Board. The school, No. 71, will cost an estimated $500,000 and will inthide 14 rooms and combination auditorium-gymnasium.

board approved an administrative reorganization plan which would make Dr. Herman L. Shibler the executive officer of the board. All other divisions of the board would be under his direction as general supenintendent of education,

Man Dies After Lying In Alley for Hours
A b4-year-old man, seen lying in an alley but ignored for hours by passersby, died this morning at police headquarters. John A. Williams, no local address, died about an hour after police brought him to jail on a stretcher. Police said they called General Hospital immediately,
