Corn Upsurge Leads Grains to Seasonal Highs
By United Press : ] CHICAGO, Nov, 17 — Surging| upward to highest levels in several years, corn this week led] grains in an upswing which sent many of the contracts to new highs for the season on the Board of Trade. . Strengthening factors in the éorn market, which rose as much 6 cents above the previous k's level, included continued light producer selling and bad weather for harvesting.
: Another aid was export business with the United Kingdom and expected heavy sales to Austria. Exdealers reported that Ausstria had requested offerings involving six cargoes of U. S. corn to be purchased early next week.
Exports Help Wheat
The wheat market generally held an upward trend throughout the week on export sales. Germany, the United Kingdom, Irejand and Mexico were buyers of U. 8S. wheat during the week. According to some estimates, sales

to Mexico involved around seven million bushels-of wheat. There was also some buying on Friday after the Canadian crop report was released which placed wheat production 17000000 bushe!s under previous estimates. In the oats market all contracts with the exception of December moved well into new high seasonal ground this week as the market tended to reflect largely the upward swing in corn,
Rye Market Firm
Most of the action in rye here was stimulated by the action of wheat and the Winnipeg rve market which was generally firm to strong. At the end of the week all contracts were selling over $2 a bushel. Soybean prices compared with a week ago were mixed as was trade throughout the week. During the past two days of trade the bean market's only strength was gained from the action of the grains. Earlier soybeans moved up of their own accord on a scarcity of offerings.
