With Home Salted Nuts
EVE ERYONE knows how costly salted nuts are to buy at the store at holiday time. Elegant toasted and salted Brazil Nut Chips are quite easy to make at home, They sell for £3 a pound in New York City and are served at exclusive parties and dinners. But you can make them for a third of that price, using Brazil nuts in the shell and shelling them yourself. Brazil Nut Chips are lengthwise slices of Brazil nut toasted and salted. Put the shelled nuts in water, bring to a boil, boil three minutes and drain. The nuts can then be cut easily in one-eighth-inch thick slices lengthwise. Spread the slices on a baking sheet, sprinkle with salt and dot with butter or margarine . . , allowing two tablespoons butter for each one and one-half cups shelled nuts, Toast in moderate oven (350° F.) for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve as snack, or after dinner nut.

School Rave mean a need for a convenient place to do homework and to store books. If space i838 short and the budget limited in your house, here's an easy-inexpensive way to solve the problem. Build a simple “shelf-desk” extending from the wall about 15 to 24 inches in depth. Above it build a narrower shelf for books. The length of both shelves should be deter-
mined by your needs and the space available. Build the “shelf-desk” at regular desk height, or. at snack-bar height. In either case, use a simple wooden stool of the correct height for a desk chair so that it can slide out of the way
