Moisture Is Must

For Indoor Gardener

Amateur gardeners who've moved their hobby indoors now that winter's in the offing will find they have greater success in starting new plants if they provide a constant supply of moisture, The soil should be kept evenly damp, since both sogginess and excessive dryness are harmful. Avoid placing your rooting plants in the direct sunlight. Good light is necessary, but direct exposure to the sun is inadvisable.

Stains Will Come Out

For meat juice stains on tablecloth and napkins, soak the linens first in cold water, then sponge in warm soapsuds. Sponge gravy spots with cold

or lukewarm water, then wash.

in warm suds—never hot--as hot water tends to set this type of stain.

Retouching Is Easy |

If the appearance of your plastered walls is marred with | small nail or screw holes, left as mementoes by former occupants of your home or apartment, here's an easy way to fill these scarred areas. Sharpen a piece of ordinary chalk until it's well pointed on the end; then press this point into the hole and cut off the remaining chalk flush with the wall. Sandpaper this chalk end until it is smooth, and even with the wall, Coat it with fresh shellac, then apply a” touch-up of paint in a shade that matches the wall.

Aid to Mothers

Planned to please the mother with a full-time job is a new block of apartments outside Copenhagen, Denmark. Working couples who live at the “Hoeje Soeborg’’ can arrange to have their children cared for on the premises in a nursery, a kindergarten, or an after-school playroom. The apartment staff also will deliver meals, babysit at night, prepare box lunches, do the laundry and the house cleaning, or cater for parties,
