GOATEE TO GO-—Michael Fernandez, 18-year-old Schenectady, N. Y., high school student, bowed to the law and his school principal today and agreed to shave off his goatee. When Fernandez was arrested in a crap game raid the police judge suspended a jail sentence, on
condition that the goatee be - shaved off. School officials also pleaded with Fernandez to shave. They said the goatee attracted "unfavorable attention.”

The older girl offered him a ciglaret. He accepted, removed his mask and sat down. They chatted {amiably . about his career for {some 10 minutes. | Then Ellen went to the kitchen {to prepare some hot milk and called police. | When he had finished the milk land the girls had convinced him of the error of his ways, he bowed himself out—into the arms of policeman.

Criminal Court 2 Judge Saul I. Rabb today took a second punch at a bail bonding firm. He followed up yesterday's. order barring Capitol Indemnity Insurance Co. frem signing appearance bonds in his court by ordering Sheriff Smith not to accept the firm's bonds for Criminal Court 2. The order came after the judge forfeited two more of the company’s bonds, totaling $300, when the defendants failed to appear for trial, Indefinite Suspension Judge Rabb said the bonding firm would be “suspended indefinitely.” He also forfeited a third bond

By DAVE WATSON Three “one-armed bandits” seized In ithe American Legion post at Corydon today were the first victims of thé new federal law banning interstate shipment of slot machines.
However, She prosecution is planned, U. S. Attorney Matthew Welsh said. niin the person who sold the machines to the Legion post has since left the United States. The three machines are in the custody 6f U. S. Marshal Julius Wichser. Federal tax agents are checking whether any of them had been operated. No federal excise stamp was hased for the machines, tax records show. i Registration Required The machines were purchased by the Legion post about two weeks after the new federal law took effect Jan. 2 this vear, Mr. Welsh said. The new law requires that any person selling slot machines must register as a dealer. The seller in this case did not do so, the district attorney said. If it is found that the machines have been operated, the owners will be subject to the new federal excise tax of $250 for each machine.
