Little Butchie Bauer was an invalid again today, only a month after being freed from the body cast which had been his prison for more than two years. The 5-year-old victim, of polio and tuberculosis of the spine was back in bed after contacting whooping cough. Now he's slated for another examination in late November which might put him back in a cast for another 18 months. “It's taken all the fight out of him,” said Butchie's mother, Mrs. Walter Bauer, 5013 W: Minnesota. ‘The other day when we went to the hospital he thought he'd be .able to try to walk. When he had to be told he'd be put back in a restraining jacket, he just looked whipped.” The mother pleaded for pen-friends to continue sending’ mail to the sick ittle boy. “The cards have begh falling off of late,” she said. “With his Christmas plans shot; the cards and mail are all he has to look forward to.”
