Sermon of the Week—

‘Christ-Kingship_in the Home’

Scripture: “Thou sayest I am. King: for this I was born, for this came T into the world!" John 18:37.

WHAT strange anomaly is this, that in» a world seemingly torn asunder by hatred, one should speak to you of Divine love? Why. in 4 world beset by treachery. should one speak today of Divine charity? Why, in a world so widely ravaged by war, should one speak of Divine peace?’

Why, in a world of dethroned kings, should one speak today

n

of the King of Kings’ For. answer, let us listen to the reply of the gentle Christ to the pompous Pontius Pilate: “Thou savest I am a King; for this I was born; for this came I into the world!” For further answer, and to keep these memorable words of our Saviour indelibly imprinted upon our minds. let us say that today, the whole Christian world over, there is celebrated the Feast of Christ the King! To Him Whose only crown was a garland of thorns, Whose only sceptre was a broken reed, and Whose only throne was a bloody gibbet the Church points today 4% the only Liberator {rom chaos, the only Hope in despair. the only Light in darkness, the only true lL.eader in our struggle for peace! =z » 5 HOW SAD it is that heedless man does not take his lesson from history! There, in Christ's court of condemnation, Pilate challenged the Saviour’'s Kingship. Only when our Saviour dropped His head in death, only when a darkened sky and an erupted earth eloquently proclaimed His Kingship, did a Roman centurian cry out: “Indeed, this is the Son of God!” How sad, in view of this history, is it that some of our modern world do not heed the mistakes made by Pilate and his followers. Do they not recognize that Christ is King; just as He ever showed Himself to be, even "in the moments of poverty and

shame; yes, even when the cloak of a fool was thrown about his scourge-wounded

shoulders? Do they not remember that He proved this Kingship by a glorious resurrection? . Will these ever scoff at the Kingship of Christ as did their prototypes-in-venom with ths words, “Crucify Him!” and hail the Saviour as a mock King?

n nr » SEEMINGLY legion is the number of those who still challenge with all fury the Kingshio of Christ. May we remind ourselves that the termités of antiChristianity, which have gnawed at the vitals of the Faith in Hungary, Czechosiovakia, Jugoslavia, Poland and China, have not stopped in these countries, nor do they intend to stop here. How disperse - the world peril of communism and its devotees?” : There is but way. Down on our Knées must we go. Verily must we storm Heaven with prayer! Family it be, with mother, dad and children praying in one concerted effort; family prayer wherein the lips of all and the hearts of all join as one in invoking God's blessing upon ourselves and upon our nation.
