The civic orchestra naturally would be the pit band for summer
operetta. It also could try the experiment of outdoor pop concerts in temporarily rigged-up
beer gardens. Certainly Indianapolis has a large group of potential patrons who know what Gemuetlichkeit” means. not as old as Cincinnati maybe we haven't made the progress Cincy’s made, but there's no harm trying. Most of the Symphony's troubles are due to the fact that nohody cares, or not enough people care at the right time. Persons! who, according to my colleague Harold Hartley,
buying new homes, presumably should have commensurate civic pride. If they're willing to pay that much to live here, they ought
to be willing to work a bit on the -
