‘Shortie Club Members Shuck Their Shoes

By JOAN SCHOEMAKER

QHORTIE CLUB members and their guests did a striptease act—at least as far as their shoes are concerned —at the club's sock hop from 9 p. m. to midnight last night in the Riviera Club gymnasium. Guests had their feet measured when they arrived and a prize went to the boy and girl with the shortest sox. The teens danced to records in their stocking feet. Members and their dates decorated the gym's walls with colored paper sox each bearing a member's name. Letha Bolles, decorations chairman, was assisted by Janice Waterman, Mary Jo Welch, Dee Dee Ent, Judy Ross and Kitten Ferriday. Other committee members include Phyllis Witte, Janiece Hannon, Letha Bolles and Barbara Smith. The new officers are Barbara Smith, president; Margaret McCallum, vice president; Florence Redding, secretary, and Ginger Allbright, treasurer. Girls are required to be five feet five inches or under to become members, but are not required to give up-their membership if they grow taller. Other requirements are included in the usual pledge duties which cover a five week period.
