Sermon of the Week—

“Forgetting Scripture: “But thou remember the Lord, thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He mayv establish His covenant which He sware unte thy fathers, as it is this day. And it shall he, if thou do at all forget the Lord thy Ged, and walk after other gods, and serve them, apd worship them, I testify agdinst vou this day that ve shall surely perish.” Deut. 8:18-20.

[ANY people in the day of Moses forgot God and perished in the wilder-

ness. They ignored the divine directives of God. Without the protecting and guiding hand of God a mighty nation fell and great suffering, misery and hardship came upon its people. Happiness was their lot as long as thev remembered God and kept His commandments. The faithful, even in their darkest days, always had hope. The divine directives of God are for our instruction and enlightenment also. - Forgetting God can be as disastrous for us tnday as it was for the people of Israel who forsook the God of their fathers. 5 ” » HOW FIRMLY trusting in our spiritual treasures? Can it be truthfully said of the people of our nation that we are forgetting God and are

and are serving them? A récent magazine article shows us to be at a low ebb spiritually. “In the old_davs parents took some responsibility for the Christian instruction of their youngsters. From their school books children learned about God as well as how to read and write. For instance, the primer from which John Wesley learned to. read was the Bible. Children wage brought up bv parents to know the Ten Commandments, the Lord's Prayer, the Apostles’ Creed. a few hymns and favorite Bible verses. The Bible was commonly read around the breakfast or supper table. But times have changed. The
