Winter Club Gets ‘52 Olympic Tryouts; |

21-22
THE Winter Club of Indianapolis has been awarded . the 1952 Olympig tryouts for the figiire skating team
‘of the United States. Dr. Paul van B. Allen, cleved word this week from the U. 8, Figure Skating Associa- - tion executive committee in Colorado Springs, Colo, the local club had been awarded ‘the high honor. Tryouts will be Dec. 21-22 in the Coliseum. The Saturday night, Dec. 22, finals will be a replica of the Olympics. M » ” ACCORDING to Dr. Allen, this is the first time there cver have been competitive tryouts for the places on the figure skating team, Before it: has been only by invitation. The team will be chosen from 38 contestants, All proceeds of the tryouts will be ‘used to finance sending the team to Oslo, Norway. They will sail from New York Jan. 20. Dr. Allen has called a meeting of the club board for 8 p. m. today in the Allen home, 1512 N. Delaware 8t. A general club meeting is scheduled for Oct. 22 in the 38th St. branch, Merchants National Bank, at which time plans will get underway for the tryouts in the Coliseum.
