Peron Foi To Try Leaders 0f Brief Revolt

By United Press

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina,

8ept. 29 — President Juan D. Peron moved swiftly today to deal with key figures in a short-lived revolt which he sald was aimed at assassinating him and his wife as well as overthrowing his government. Armed with a martial law decree from congress, Peron’s regime began proceedings for military trials of accused rebels less than 24 hours after he announced the revolt had been crushed. Retired Gen. Benjamin Menen@ez, only one of the four rebel leaders caught so far, faced a possible death penalty under a “state of internal war” decree rushed throungh congress last night, The government announced that Madame Eva Peron, the President's wife, was “rather seriously {11” with amenia “of medium intensity” and was being given blood transfusions. She was able, however, to make a bedside broadcast last night thanking the people for remaining loyal to the government. (In Montevideo, Uruguay, Argentina Navy Capt. Vicente M. Baroja, one of the rebels who fled there when the revolt collapsed, said. that the plan seemed fool proof but “something went wrong. ” (Baroja and more than 70

other officers of the Argentine armed forces who fled to Uru-

guay were interned and it was base,

announced their arms and planes would be returned to Argentina.) The Army ministry said most persons involved in the five-hour uprising have been arrested. Proceedings have started for trial under the military Justice code, it said.

Ind.), would require approval by a Sen-ate-House conference on the tax measure and subsequent approval by the House. Similar provisions, approved twice before by the Senate, have "been side-tracked by the House. Federal Security Administrator Oscar R. Ewing has cut off federal funds to Indiana because the state legislature passed a bill making relief rolls public. Mr. Ewing said he acted reluctantly to comply yith federal law which says that names on relief rolls must be kept secret. In a reversal of its previous stand, the House Ways and Means Committee has ag nsider' bill BY Rep. Burr P, Harrison (D. Va.), which would lift the, federally imposed secrecy rule.
