Customers receiving Approval Certificates will need them when ordering their space heating equipment from their dealer. When the equipment arrives at your home, ready for installation, call the Gas Utility's Contract Department (Market 4421) and ask for the installation of a houselteating meter and give your name and Approval Certificate

Tue FeperAL POWER COMMISSION has granted the Gas Utility the right to secure an additional supply of natural gas. This makes it possible to ease the restrictions on gas space heating and the Gas Utility will be able to serve a limited number of additional customers. :

A building is no longer considered to be under construction if its heating plant has been used prior to Oct. 1, 1951.

1. Only the card mailed to gas customers on September 20, 1951 may be used to: make application for space heating in the case of resi- - dential, commercial or industrial customers. This card should be filled out even if previous request for space heating has been made.

2. The Approval Certificate, when issued, applies

Realizing that more customers will want gas for house heating than it will be possible to serve, the Gas Utility has devised a simple, tamper proof and mechanical system to assure equal and fair treatment to all. A letter of explanation and a card were > mailed yesterday (Thursday, September 20, 1951) to all gas customers. who wish to heat their homes with gas need fo take but a single step: Fill in, sign and mail this card to the Gas Utility, postmarked not later than September 30, 1951. Each card bears the customer's name and address. so each customer is automatically limited to one card. When the deadline for receiving cards is ast, each card will be assigned a code number, which will be transferred to an International Business Machine “punch card.” These cards will be shuffied mechanically by an IBM machine, and 4 after thorough shuffling a sequence number will be automatically printed on each coded card as it leaves the machine.
