WE WERE DELIGHTED: to learn that many sports editors in the country have agreed to run this column again’ this fall. In an effort to justify their faith in us, as well as the faith of many Notre Dame fans across the nation, we

have been doing our utmost to prepare our team for the coming season, . When we open against one of our conquerors of last year, Indiana, 1 can be sure of only two things First, no team will have cver worked harder in practice to do that which 1s correct, and secondly, no team will have entered an opening game with a greater thirst for victory than the 1951 Notre Dame eleven. = ” n JUST WHAT TYPE of team we will have this fall is a big question, In comparing it to iast year's team I believe the team strength is about the same, although we will have a bit more depth this year. Of course, no team can“lose two All-Americas like Bob Williams and Jerry Groom and not suffer. 1 honestly believe that were it not for these two lads Notre Dame may have lost every game last fall. Our number one problem this vear is inexperience. In all probability at least 10 of the top 22 men will be playing their first college ball this year. n ” =" AT THE CONCLUSION of the 1950 season we told a little story
