AF to Trace Crash |
Tips to Avert Hoaxes ALEXANDRIA, La. Sept. 13 (UP)—Air Force officials here today planned to trace future tips on plane crashes immediately to forestall hoaxes such as yesterday's “C-47 crash’—the nation's third hoax this year. Col. J. H. Moore, Alexandria Air Force base commander, said a search proved a telephone report of the crash in a swamp near here was deiinitely a hoax but no checkup was made in time to trap the sender. In the previous hoaxes a false 8-0-8 touched off a costly but futile search for a B-50 plane crew down in the Atlantic and another sent planes and ships scurrying to a “tanker fire” in"the Gulf of Mexico.
