.By ALICIA HART ILLUSION is a mighty weapon when your beauty is less than perfect, but—

as many women have dis-

covered to their sorrow—it's one that is used with varying degrees of success. There is, however, one sleight-of-hand trick which you can use. with" confidence: That of employing nail enamel to correct the shape of your fingernails.

” ” n BY ANALYZING your nail problems and then cheating a little with your polish, you can conjure the observer's eye into seeing Your nails not as they are, but as you'd like them to be. : If square, boxy nails give your hands a stubby look, avoid covering their entire surfaces. Try instead, leaving uncovered large deep moons, and leaving the sides free as well. Polish to their very tips, to make them appear elongated.

= n 2 THE SAME RULE, in modified form, applies to childishlooking round nails. Stroke your polish down their centers, leaving an edge of uncolored nail on each side to blend into the flesh-tones of your cuticles. For round nails, however, you apply the enamel from tip to tip, leaving no moon. at all. Spatula-shaped nails present their own problems, too. The idea here is to make. them appear less broad where they fan out at the tips. Leave a deep ‘moon, and cover the nail from side-to-side as you start your strokes near the base.

tip; leave instead a line of white as a border on the gentlycurving top edge of your nails. If your nails are oval, you're in luck. This is the ideal at which the possessors of the other three types are aiming. Either cover your nails completely, or leave tiny moons and edge tips. They'll look nice either way.

Most important, the writing corner should be well equipped. | A modern pen holder—desk set— adds charm and reminds users to return the pen to its place instead of carrying it away. | "TWO. Every writing corner, whether it’s in living room, kitch-/ en, workroom or children’s room, | should be well lighted.
