Pacing changing clothes trends, the Ideal femine form has run the gamut during the past half-century from curves to boyish flatness to a com-bination-figure featuring constraint here and exaggeration there. Now there's a return to naturalness in hips and bust, with a tiny waist pointing up the importance of both. 8 ” o AN AID TO women who wish to revamp their figures to fit the current ideal is a series of exercises worked out by Manya Kahn, body-molding expert, who recently published a home
| course entitled “Lovely to Look ALY
The first of her suggested “body rhythms,” which were designed to correct posture and to develop grace as well as to beautify the figure, is an exercise for the bustline. This may be done either seated crosslegged on the floor, or else standing tall in a free area. BEGIN by straightening yourvibrant posture-— head up, chest lifted, abdomen in. Place your fingertips upon your shoulders, your elbows pointing straight downward. Drop vour head limply then inhaling deeply, raise your head slowly up and

By ELEANOR ROOSEVELT HYDE PARK,:N. Y., Aug. 31—It seems to me un-
fortunate that India has so uncompromisingly stated its
position on the treaty with
apan.
None of us in the United States should ignore the
necessities that home politics put upon a leader who wishes to remain in power and probably feels justified in this wish. And I am quite sure that Primes Minister Nehru is genuinely interested in the god of the people of India. Perhaps it
someone who has never been to. India and ig so far away-— as it is true with many of us who slive in the United States’ — even to try to understand what are the motivations lying back of the present proceedings in India.
It seems important to me, however, to try to think as objectively as we can about
this situation because India is a key sthte in the Communist~ march to control of the undgr“developed areas of the world.

to understand their religious difficulties and their political inhibitions. I can understand the desire of the Asians to feel they are no longer subservient to Western powers, and if India had asked for certain reasonable modifications or time limits I think her request would have been considered. “The Indian people are back of pacifist stand and want lacate the Soviet Union and Communist China. They have not as yet apparently realized that one is for or against communism, just as one is for or against God, and that there is no such thing as placating a Communist power. If India does not join with the free nations of the world, she will find herself in a position some day where she will have to join the Communist nations and that may divide her
internally even more violently
than she is already divided.
