State Fair officials are planning a rain-or-shin® program for the first time this year, after rain washed out the final day’s card in 1950. In case of a muddy mile track, the sulky pullers will race over a half-mile cinder oval inside the big track. The half-mile track was relocated this spring and the mile oval resurfaced at $35,000.
