Pat O’Brien portrays the arresting officer, who is torn between a long-time friendship with Tracy and his duty to John Hodiak, the district attorney. Arness is proven guilty and Tracy appeals the case. He finds the alibi he is looking for when he

makes the dark-haired beauty Yvette Duguay, who played Mario Lanza's sweetheart in “The Great Caruso,” to admit Arness was with her the night of the murder. Tracy continues his hunt for

the real murderer. His discovery brings a snap ending to the movie. This movie is the first in which Spencer Tracy and Pat O’Brien have co-starred, although their lives have run on a parallel. the studio's thriller, ‘“‘Smiler With

a Gun.” The main lodge buildings cover an area the size of a football field and were designed by Mac Johnson, art director, as dramatic examples of advanced modern architecture.

Arriving in Néw York, he finds Jane Wyman, the girl he thought. he was going to marry, engaged to her boss, Franchot Tone. Miss Wyman agrees to help Bing find a home for the children, but that's all. Bing and Robert Keith decide to teach Alexis

vered panels were used instead of

windows for the cabanas. The floor of the lodge is polished ebony, decorated with brightly-

colored, free-form figures, A freestanding, fireplace, recessed in the floor, replaces the customary wall fireplace. The abstract-shaped swimming pool is filled with 9000 gallons of heated, - distilled water dyed a brillant gold. A crew of 100 spent 12 days building the set, Furniture was built by RKO to Johnson's specifications. A Mexican motif crops up in carved Mayan heads used as lamp bases, Carved Aztec figures hold other table lamps.

The number, and not the contours, of a prospective star's legs are what interest the casting directors now. The human biped, being limited to two, is at a disadvantage. The girl who has spent her youth in drama classes

also is handicapped. Her ears aren't long enough. So unless you have reared a

duck-billed platypus, an aardvark, a wombat or a garden variety of domestic quadruped, you haven't raised film fodder. n ” J THREE YEARS versal-International making There were no
