WASHINGTON, Aug. 11 — A proposal to invite Gen. MacArthur to take part in signing the Japanese peace treaty was made to Secretary of State Acheson.
Such an action wduld be an administration olive branch to the ousted commander of American occupation forces in Japan.: It would also be dramatic recognition of the fact the treaty is the fruit of MacArthur's successful postwar occupation policies.
The proposal was made by Senator Ferguson (R. Mich.) and carriés no implication the administration’ will consider including ‘MacArthur in the official U. 8. delegation. Immediate state de-

How did one become a member of the Church in apostolic times! The answer: Since the church consisted of a body of saved, the same thing that saved one added him fo the church. Therefore, whatever it fakes fo make one a Christian, fo bring about the remission of his past sins, the same was necessary fo make him a member of the Church. There was nothing fo "join," for then there was but one church. If was noi a matter of belonging fo the church of one’s choice, buf only in belonging fo the church of Christ's choice. To inquire how one became a member of the New Testament Church is equivalent fo inquiring how was one saved from his past sins. FAITH IN CHRIST was absolutely essential fo this end. Without faith, if is impossible fo please God. (Heb. 11:6) We are justified by faith. (Rom. 5:1) Men Were saved by grace through faith. (Eph. 2:8) But If should be emphasized that this was NOT by FAITH
ONLY. Faith alone never saved anybody. (Jas. 2:24) Rather if wasthe "obedience of faith” that saved, the obedience that stemmed sanmmmnmmnrammnnnennna from faith in Christ. (Rom. 16:26). PAA AANA
REPENTANCE was equally necessary. Paul insisted that BELMONT CHURCH the Athenians repent of their idolatrous ways. (Acts 17:30) IRVINGTON CHURCH
