newsy letter. Don’t mention the city’s heat or how hard you're working or how you wish to heaven you ~
could get away. : Tell him
how sorry you are he missed last night's good party and how everybody else , was there and had a wonderful time. Mention

Just so the thing you mention is something the friend enjoys. Hint at some bit of gossip you are sure will intrigue your friend without giving all of the low down, just enough to tease his imagination.
o » " | IF YOU'RE writing to a | woman mention all thé wonderful sales that are going on and describe the bargains you've picked up for “practically nothing.” If you're writing to a man mention that the boys had a
poker game or got off by themselves for a week-end fishing trip. Or {if he's all

“Wearing white gloves is a southern custom I picked up long ago in my home town of New Orleans,” says Miss Joy. “It’s not merely an affectation, I guess I am a truly feminine type of woman. I love white gloves, they are so ladylike, I think. I wear at least six pairs of clean white gloves cvery day. “After wearing them once, I immediately wash them in soap and water. Clean white gloves are the most feminine touch in a woman’s wardrobe.”

White gloves are my badge of femininity.” The passing years have mellowed the dramatic beauty, Leatrice Joy, who says, with a smile, “I am a blonde for the picture because they asked me to dye my gray “hair for the part.” She weighs 122 pounds, her exact weight when she was the
