Evangelist R. G. Hoekstra will conclude his six week's evangelistic campaign with this Family Day Sunday Services.
We saw in the lost article that the inspired writers addressed their writings not to a special clerical class, but “to all the saints” in the various places to which they wrote. Therefore the scriptures were for all the saints or Christions and consequently to be read by all. Not only were they addressed to all, but there are specific instructions that all should share in the reading of them. In writing to the church at Thessalonica, Paul directed that the epistie be read to all the brethren. “I adjure you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the brethren.” (I Thess. 5:26.) Again in writing to the Colossians, he said: “And when this epistie hath been read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye also read the epistle from Laodicea.”
$ (Col. 4:16.) Paul makes it very urgent that all the brethren hear or read the epistle. The expression “read among you” seems to imply more than simply a public reading, it carries the idea of being passed around among the brethren for private or individual reading. But even if it should be insisted that it refers only to a public reading of the
