Take GIs Into Homes But the Second Presbyterian Church is taking the-soldiers into their homes and into their hearts in a very special manner. : Every Sunday morning, the gervicemen of many different. denominations who attend morning worship, are invited to a little réception afterward in the social room. They are made the center of the occasion, quite honored guests, as they drink cooling fruit punch. When the informal, get-ac-quainted party is over, the church families take them in uniform home to dinner with them.
Offer Varied Entertainment
They entertain them in various ways — with tennis, swimming, radio, television, movies and the like. Frequently, they just sit and listen while the boys talk of their parents and the people back home. “They're 80 young, 80 far away from all who are dear to them, so homesick,” was the comment made with feeling by Mrs. William Snyder Hall. Mrs. Hall heads the church committee which plans for entertainment of the boys. “The servicemen enjoy just sitting, just having an interested audience for what they have to say,” she continued. “One Sunday, I glanced up at one who happened to- be having Ainner with us. Tears were run““iiTng Off hig face: He was nappy as could be but éverywhere he looked something reminded him of his home and he just couldn't / help the tears. “I kept my eyes on my plate

well fed at the post. It's the touch with a real home that they need. “ ‘Oh, a tablecloth. Isn't it wonderful’,” Mrs. Hall quoted one of them as saying.
