Dulls the ‘Hatchets

‘This “strategy of indecision” is dulling the hatchets of the antiJenner faction in the GOP which has gone into seclusion without leadership. “The Jenner leadership (presumed to control most of the state GOP machine) is not giving us| anything to shoot at,” declared, one party leader known to oppose the Senator's control of the organization. Thus, a “wait and see” policy has developed in all factions of the GOP from the state committee headquarters on down.

Hughes Drive Slowed :

It has slowed a preliminary | drive to push W. O. Hughes, Ft.| Wayne, Speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives, into position for the U. 8. Senate race. Friends of John VanNess, Valparaiso, GOP majority leader In| the State Senate, are moving cautiously but firmly toward his candidacy for; the Governor nomsination.

“We don’t care what Jenner plans to do if anything ... we're going to run VanNess for Governor,” his friends said last week. - Another faction of the GOP is bringing up the name of Tony Hulman, wealthy Terre Haute businessman ahd owner of the Speedway, as a possible Governor candidate. : : Maneuvers in the Democratic
