Vows Said In Chapel Ceremony
~ Mrs. James H. Lake Jr. was Miss Evelyn Nichols before her marriage yesterday in McKee Chapel of the Tabernacle Presby-
terian Church. Dr. Roy Ewing Vale read the doublering ceremony at 7:30 p. m. Mr. and Mrs. W. Bryant Nichols, 3021 E, 30th St, are parents of the bride. “ Mr. Lake is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lake, Saltsburg, Pa. Mrs. Fred Gordon Johnston Jr. was her sister's matron of honor, Her dress of pink net had a tiered skirt and-a stole. The bridemaids, Miss Norma Redmond, Mrs. Olin Baker and Miss Katherine Lake, Saltsburg, sister of the bridegroom, were dressed like the matron of honor. Karen Lake, the bridegroom's niece, who was flowergirl, wore pink organdy. Thomas H. Lake was best man for his brother and seating the guests were John E. Lake, also a brother, Mr. Johnston Jr. and Jack Hubertz. The bride chose a candlelight satin gown with a fitted bodice, off-shoulder yoke and stole of Chantilly lace. The softly pleated, full hooped skirt formed a cathedral train. A lace bonnet held her fingertip illusion veil and she wore the pearls given her by the bridegroom. The bridal bouquet was of white orchids, * fleur d'amour, stephanotis and i. fvy in cascade arrangement. A reception was held in the Claypool Hotel before the couple left for Chicago. Overdeer officiated yesterday at the double-ring ceremony, at 4:30 p. m. in the Broadway Methodist Church, uniting Miss Elizabeth Taylor Gwinn and John Leroy Reed Jr. The bride, daughter ot Mrs. James R. Harbison, 4301 Park Ave. attended Indiana and Butler Universities. She is a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. A graduate of the University of Detroit, Mr. Reed is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Reed, Detroit. He is affiliated with Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity. The bride chose her sister, Miss Joy Taylor Gwinn, as maid of honor and Miss Mary Lee Davis and Miss louise Jett, both of Danville, Ky., and Mrs, Roland Swingley as bridesmaids. They wore pink and aqua organdy frocks with white striped satin pattarns and carried . yellow roses. Donald Sinclair Kearney, Detroit, was best man nad ushers. were Walter MecGreevy, Robert Hared and Kenneth Robinson, all of Detroit. An off-shoulder organdy collar accented the bride's gown of white eyelet organdy. Her two-tiered Nlusion veil, fingertip-length, was attached to a French bonnet of em‘broidered organdy. she carried a shower of white roses, stephanotis, fleur d'amour and ivy. After a reception in the church, the couple flew to New Orleans. ‘The bride chose a lime green shantung dress with Balenciaga accessories for her trip. They will make their home in Detroit.
