Sermon of the Week—
‘Am | Acceptable?
Scripture: “We labor that we may be accepted to Him,” (ar-
Cor. 5:9). ALMOST EVERYONE
wants to be appreciated, to be useful. A high school or college girl or boy, at initiation time, will un-
dergo the wildest torture and humiliation from fraternal
organizations, just to be in the
gang, to be a good fellow. The Bible teaches that one should labor to be accepted of God, and the scripture says, “We shall be judged for the things we have done in the body, whether it be good or bad” (II Cor. 5:10). Oné can please God by living Intentionally. A person must live by intent and not by impulse, if he is to succeed in the business world. The successful business man goes to work regularly and by intent, not just when he feels like it. Suppose a clerk went to work only when he felt like it. A Christian husband or wife must intend to please God by virtuous living. A ‘man would probably be a poor husband if he were faithful only when he felt like it. A Christian lives not by impulse, but by intent. He lives intending to be bb ed of God. To be acceptable unto God the Father, one must control his tongue and temper at times. The man is a poor Chris-
tian who loses his temper every
time he is irritated. The Bible says one must “bridle” his tongue. This doesn’t mean only an hour and fifteen minutes while he is in church on Sunday morning. A Christian refrains from. stealing all the time, and not just when he is being watched by someone. He intends to please God.
