Miss Emmie Anderson

Services were hdld recently in Detroit Lakes, Jinn, for Miss Emmie A. Anderson, former assistant collector #f U. 8. customs here, She was #aid to be the only woman ever holding that position. She ‘was 61 and died in Orange, Cal. ' Miss Anderson came to Indianapolis from Charleston, 8. C, in 1945, retiring in four years, after 31 years’ federal service. Her first job was in the War Depagtment in Washington in the maili and record section of the Ordsance Division. Later, she went to France in similar work. e joined the customs service in"1920 in Puerto Rico where she taught school.
