17 On Plane Hurt But Motorists Get Off Lucky

The pilot and a crew member of the Air Force C-47 were reported critically injured when the ship crashed on the edge of a runway at Offutt Field, rolled and skidded over a dirt road and nosed onto Highway 75, partially blocking it. Emergency crews sprayed the plane with chemicals and there was no fire. Rescuers took injured passengers and crewmen out through a side door.
