This sudsy water returned to the washer for rethe next load of clothes . It effects major econin hot water and soap, and
possible the use of a capacity hot water heater. \
Rinses Seven Times
Another exclusive feature of the Whirlpool is its use of seven rinses to insure complete removal of soap suds, and the dirt which they hold in suspension, from the clothes. Four pressure spray rinses, one agitated deep rinse, and two additional spray rinses are included. ‘The Whirlpool uses an especially designed “Perma-Smooth” agitator which is exceedingly gentle in its treatment of clothes. Its design creates “Agifiow Washing Action” which cleans each individual piece of clothing thoroughly and equally. Throughout the washing, rins-

is manufactured by the washer requires no fastening to
the floor, Its seif-balancing arrangement is simple. The entire working mechanism is suspended freely from the washer’s frame by three steel rods inserted in rubber balls, Thus vibration and sound are absorbed without being transmitted to the floor,
On all of its products, Whirlpool Corp, employs an unusually durable high-gloss finish and rust free construction,
Convection Principle
Whirlpool gas and dryers are easily vented to the outdoors and both employ a system
convection heating that result in a high degree of efficiency with complete protection to the clothes. Alr is drawn into the cabinet across the heating unit, Then it is carried through a duct into the revolving drum in such a way as to secure the maximum amount of drying efficiency from the warm air without exposing the clothes to direct radiant heat from the electric element or the gas burner, Air is drawn from the cabinet by an exhaust fan which maintains a slight vacuum in the cabinet to assure direct flow of moisture laden air and lint to the exhaust duct, This prevents accumula tions of lint in the working mechanism of the dryer,
Self-Lighter
The gas dryer is lighted by flicking a toggle switch at the front of the cabinet. The name “Flikit” is applied to this selflighting mechanism to indicate the “flick of the switch” simplicity of the operation. ‘No matches are required at any time, and the pilot burner is operated only when the dryer is in operation. °*
Flow of gas to the main burner is automatically controlled by the pilot burner, and two automatic valves give complete assurance that gas cannot flow through the main burners without being ignited. Every means has been used to render the gas burner completely safe in operation and to insure uninterrupted performance.
Three temperature selections are provided on both gas and electric dryers so that the proper drying temperature for various types of clothing can be maintained. An witraviolet light in both models keeps clothes fresh and sweet as outdoor alr.
The operation of either dryer is started by setting the timer dial to the number of minutes selected by the housewife for the degree of dryness desired and the type

provided and a lock mechanism on two of the casters holds ihe washer stationary while it is in operation, Both the Supreme model and the De Luxe model use a “Perma-Smooth” agitator especially designed for the shape and size of the tubs to secure the utmost washing efficiency.’ Both washers wash nine pounds of clothes at each load. Legs extend well up on the sides of the washer to give extra strength and add to the sturdy appearance, Dual’ Héat Controls The Whirlpool froner has a full size, 26 by 6-inch roll which can) be regulated to two speeds for various types of ironing or held stationary for pressing. Automatic Washer Makes Dyeing
'An Easier Job
Tinting last year’s cottons, bed or table linens can be done much easier and better results obtained if an automatic washer is used. To use the washer for dyeing or tinting, set the dial control to fill with the dial on hot. Lift the dial and while the tub is filling with hot water, add the tint or dye to the water, according to the directions on the package. When the tub has filled with the desired amount of water, press the dial down. Then set the controls to wash. Let the color mix thoroughly. Now add the fabrics to be dyed. Set the dial for the desired washing time depending on the fabric used and the intensity of the dye. Let the machine operate through the complete cycle. Place the dyed fabric in the automatic, dryer or hang it on the clothes line. To remove all trace of color from the machine, as soon as the tinting or dyeing is completed, fill the tub with hot water, add onefourth cup water softener (if the water is not already soft), one cup of all-purpose laundry soap powder, and one cup bleach. Set the dial for an 11-minute wash land allow the machine to go {through a complete cycle.

Separate Fabrics Just Like Colors
It's not enough to separate eolors. Sort for fabrics, too. These should always -be washed separately (1) white cottons and linens (2) color-fast cottons and linens (3) woolens (4) synthetics, Make sure fabrics are washable! Look for pre-shrunk trade-marks, or color-fast directions on the label. If unmarked, let a clock be your guide. Limit wool to 2 for 3 minutes. Don’t soak fine fabrics or fabrics of unfast color. Twenty minutes is maximum for soaking fast-colored cottons and linens.
