122000 More College Students Take Draft Tests
y Upited : WASHINGTON, June 15—Some 122,000 college students took the second nationwide draft test today in an effort to win deferment from military service so they can
finish their education.
The college men had a hint about the nature of the questions from classmates who took the first exam three weeks ago. But Selective Service officials promised
a different set of puzzlers,
A third test, with still another group of questions, will be given June 30 and a fourth will be held July 12 for those whose religious beliefs bar them from taking tests
on Saturday.
A total of about 375,000 men were expected to take the special
deferment examination, making it the largest of its kind ever held
in the United States. Those who get high enough scores—70 will do the trick in most cases—will be eligible for occupational defer-
ments to stay in school. Students in the top rank
of
their classes also will be eligible for deferment. Local draft boards will have final word on which men
get deferments,
