Ezio Pinza Transfers s His Appeal to Album

EZIO PINZA is indeed a man of many alénts. A great basso on the opera stage, a matinee idol in the Broadway musical “South Pacific,” and more recently a Hollywood movie star, he has also proven himself to be a recording artist of extraordinary appeal, hits from his first movie, which is featured on RCA Victor's

June Red Seal list.

“SONGS FROM MR. IM-| PERIUM” is the title of the] album (Victor, WDM-1502) con-|

sisting of three 7-in. 45-rpm records. Mr. Pinza and the popular Fran Warren sing

joging, namely,

SUNDAY, JUNE 10, 1951

Love and My Mule” and “Let Me|

Look at You.”

The fourth song

in the album is one of the big

numbers in “Mr. Imperium,” “You

Belong to My Heart,” in which he|

ifs accompanied by the colorful! Guadalajara Trio which provides melodic background for him in

the movie.

Of the six orchestral tonepoems Smetana wrote to celebrate the beauty and history of his‘ beloved Bohemia, the two on this record are nature pic. tures while the other four are evocations of Bohemian legends. It is idyllic descriptive music of the kind, we like to hea, simple and gay, and quite entrancing.

” 5 CARNEGIE POPS PROGRAM II, played by Charles O'Connell and: the Carnegie Pops Orchestra, on the two 10Inch sides of LP record ML2176. © Another recogd of a typical “pops concert” program,

on which the orchestra ‘has placed eight lovely and varied selections, including music from opera. and ballet and arrange-
