We, the Women—
It's a Fair Solution to Take Turns on Planning Evenings
By RUTH MILLETT A LOT of the minor matters that cause trouble between husbands and wives month in and year out could be solved easily with a little co-operation and common
sense.
Take this problem, for instance, which keeps turning up in letters to this column: The wife complains that her husband never wants to go out at night—or at least never takes her anywhere she wants to go. A fair solution to that difficulty would be for the wife to say what the couple will do one evening and the husband the next. Taking turns about planning their evenings, both wolild get to do what they want to do half of the time and should then be willing to do what the other wants to do the
other half of the time.
Not only would that be a fair arrangement, but it might even add a little variety
to their evenings. oh HH

Strawberry
Jam Recipe Introduced at Purdue Lab
© Times State Serviee LAFAYETTE, June 9—Dr. Ger-

The experiments, concluded this week, are a sequel! to the frozen red raspberry and frozen blackberry jam recipes announced by the laboratory recently, Used raw, the berries are never cooked. Freezing the jam keeps it from molding, Lemon julce is added to the strawberries to bring out the flavor.
FROZEN STRAWBERRY JAM 3% c. mashed or pureed strawberries (about one-fourth of these should be under-ripe) 1 tbsp. lemon juice 8% c. sugar 1 box powdered pectin 1 c. water Bring the pectin and water to a boil in a four-quart sauce pan over medium heat, stirring con-
