NCAA Rules Penn In ‘Bad Standing’
Eyes Expulsion
By United Press CHICAGO, June 8 — The University of Pennsylvania, tagged )y the National Collegiate Athletic Association with a “bad standing” label for defying the assoclation’s ban on football television, was warned in March of such an action.
The label was handéd to the Quakers yesterday, just one day after the university had announced it was going ahead with plans to televise its games next fall.
The ruling, announced here on behalf of NCAA President Hugh Willett of the University of Southern California and Secre-tary-Treasurer Kenneth I. Wilgon of the Big Ten, means that Pennsylvania cannot compete in any NCAA tournaments. That goes for the NCAA tourneys this month in track, golf and tennis, As for football, that was left up to Penn's rivals and four of those —- Cornell, Columbia, Cali-|, fornia and Dartmouth—indicated they might call off games already scheduled against Penn, In addition, the Willett-Wilson tement said the NCAA council d move to expel Pennsylvania from membership at the next convention, The ruling of the officers was in accordance with the decision of the 17-member council Mar. 1 that violators of the year-long ban against live video of football should be declared “not in good standing” immediately and face a possible move for expulsion.

within four-tenths of .a second of that time in winning the Big Ten indoor mile-this year. His main competitors probably will be Frank Albertson and Frank Holmberg of Tennessee. Drake and Loyola of the South have come close to the CCC quar-ter-mile relay record of 41.6 seconds. Drake's crack team has done it in 41.7, and Loyola in 42 flat.
