New Ceilings Set BEF Prices at Retail | In 200000 Stores
By United Press WASHINGTON, May 31—New ceiling prices went into effect today on most department store goods includirig radio and television sets, clothing, shoes, furniture, household goods, jewelry,| and watches and clocks. { Officials of the Office of Price Stabilization (OPS) predicted that some increases would result for| at least 200,000 of the 300,000 stores carrying such merchandise. File Price Charts Some 100,000 small retailers, have the option of using the new! ceilings or keeping prices set by the general price-wage freeze of Jan. 25. OPS said it wasn’t sure whether, all retailers would meet the deadline for filing price charts, but that all its field officers were swamped. The new ceilings were,
