Hundreds of the students thought most of the questions especially those on higher mathematics, were too difficult. Not so the Harvard University boys, two of whom commented: “It was a lot easier than I thought. The math was special. ly simple.” “I really was rolling until 1 got to one math question. I couldn't get the decimal to come out right. The rest of it was a cinch.” The examination was divided Into three sections; Mathematics, | vocabulary and reading comprehension. The vocabulary section included questions on word relationships and proper usage. The reading comprehension section’ included six paragraphs and at the end of each paragraph were several multiple choice questions about the text. The paragraphs were about the breakeven point in business, color TV, torpedoes, civil strife in England, men’s fashions before and after 1400, and armies.
