can Medical by laymen. There is no diagnosis on tne part of the tester and the child either passes or fails. In cvent of failure, the school nurse contacts the child's parents and advises a to an ophthalmologist. All elementary grades with the” exception of the first, fourth and eighth grades are tested. The sorority volunteers have the children in and 2. It {s their hope eventually to test {he eyes of all the public school children in this city.
Association for use
School officials have been both enthusiastic and appréciative of the service as there is no compulsory vision testing in the schools and a child's eyes can change considerably between regular periods of testing. The local program. is only a part of an over-all project of active and alumnae Delta Gamma members in this country as well as Canada. Sight conservation and aid to the blind gives outr#ght grants as well as a revolving loaf fund for scholarships ‘0 those who are studying to work with the preschool blind child and to train the partially sighted as orthoptic technicians. It was adopted as a national project in 1936 by the sorority. The color film and slides to be shown Friday depict the work of the volunteers in Indianapolis. Since pupils from School 5 were the film is ing shown to them first. Later the movie will be sent to
national headquarters of the proj- . z ect committee and will be incorpo-| Blackwood on Bridge—
