Mature Skin Aided by Hormone Greams
By EDYTH T. McLEOD THE USE OF creams containing estrogenic substances is increasing. Be-
| cause the mature skin responds
to their use they are in great demand by the “after 40” group of women. These are the women who seek not only good looks but an improvement in the texture and condition of their skins. They want a smoothing of wrinkled tissue, There has been a great deal of talk about the real effects of hormone creams. The only effects that 1 have seen have been good. . The skin ‘does look fresher and younger, and even the most wrinkled, aging skin
seems to take on a sort of glow’
after faithful use of whatever cream was selected. ~ EJ on
EVERY MATURE woman should seek*and find the -best aid for her skin. She has no reason and, I think, that she has no right to go about looking her age when she can do something about it! Remember—1I have told you that you should act your age but not look ft!

agency stated, ‘We are very skeptical of the ability of those creams (hormone) to accom plish the results claimed, but we are not at this time in a position to disprove the claims _ made for them.’ “The report, which went on to consider whether or not the creams were harmful, found that this possibility could not be overlooked. It summed up its stand by stating that it did not ‘look with favor on this distribution for lay use. “In a recent.study, however, the Administration notes .that hormone creams brought about ‘slight morphological and physe fological alterations in older skins not produced by the same ointment base without the ese trogen.’ “Extent of these effects, it adds, is not yet determined. Noting that the creams have been widely distributed for nearly 10 years, it points out, . ‘there have been no reports in medical literature which suggests harmful effects resulting from the application.'” Now I hope you will feel that that hormone creams are helpful!
A recent issue of Cosmetics & Toiletries Magazine, the magazine which is the mouthpiece of the cosmetic industry, makes this report on “The State of the Hormone.” “A re. cent report to the Toilet Goods Association shows that the Food and Drug Administration has revised its opinion on hormone creams, : o ” 1d “IN ITS former opfnion, given in 1944, the government

My Day—
Politics Should Not Affect World Health Organization
By ELEANOR ROOSEVELT -. GENEVA, May 21—I had the opportunity to spend two short periods in the World Health Organization
' meeting. 1 wanted to get the feel of that dgency, which, I think, should be less political than any other body. The first speech I heard was a request for the admission of 8pain as -a member. Japan and Germany had just been admitted. I have always felt that a world organization should be just that, and whether you like the governments of countries or not it is better to have them a part of the organization. From contact with one another, we will all gain in understanding. In the afternoon I heard the Indian minister of health, who is a woman, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, announce that India was grateful for the fact that she had been named on the executive committee. She had served the past three years, which-—were the important formative years of the organization.
Repledging Ring SINCE they're happily married themselves, the Resens like to think that most of their rings are still being worn by the origina! purchasers. But, for people who want to repledge themselves to their marriage, the Resens have their newest design. It's a repledging ring in gold with a platinum service stripe for every Year of marriage.

great needs should be represented on this committee, but she also believes that it is valuable for more countries to serve on this policy-making group. Therefore, she was withdrawing India’s name. India, she said, will take no less interest nor will it work less hard on the program of the World Health body, but it wants to give other nations the opportunity for the same participation which | it had.
