from one 7 the speedway fraternity now 8000 miles away from the Indianapolis Speedway’s Gasoline Alley. He's Tommy Nicholson, crew member of the Lee Wallard pit in former years, now with the Navy on Guam. So . . . we're going to send Tommy The Times airmail so he can keep up with the happenings Says part of Tommy's letter: “Regards to yourself and THE GUYS.” His racing associates and fans can write him: T: J. INDIANAPOLIS Speedrome will get a “change of face” this week. The dirt will be removed from the track surface . . . underneath is the asphalt on which the midgets will run Saturday night and the stock cars Sunday night, Earl Sexon, who operates the Jewell Cafe in Greenfield, has leased Speedrome from his several brothers and is the sole operator.
s ” ” DON'T be surprised if Frank Funk's AAA speedway car races at his Winchester Speedway on May 27 cars there this season. Too much trouble with drivers regarding prizes, including appearance money—that “special deal” in which top drivers get extra money for coming to the race. If Funk quits the speedway cars, watch for stock cars and Roaring Roadsters to take over the track for the balance ol he, season.
