About three years ago, Dickie was just a tiny pigeon, one of many who roost in the lofty girders of Union Station. One day Dickie fell to the tracks below. She didn’t move. Trainmen working the station

A few “days of forced feeding and loving attention put Dickie right again. Dickie knew she'd] found her new home and a host of friends. Her readiness to meet up with humans soon took her into the switching engines assigned to the station. She quickly made friends with the crews and found them willing to feed her. Three times a day now, she'll swoop into the cab of the switcher on duty and demand her food. 8he's got a bit fussy about that, though. It has to be either dried peas or peanuts. nothing else. Dicklie's favorite engineer is a smiling gent of many years named William “Billy” Bond. She'll sit on his shoulder and coo away merrily. Before the gatehouse gave way to an automatic crossing gate, Dickie would make for it when-| ever the weather seemed bleak.| 8he'd head for the top shelf on, one wall and roost. Her railroad friends then knew dirty weather, was coming. Whenever Dickie's visiting her
