Yesterday's TRY IT showed how to tie a honda and to prepare for rope sp . For spinning the “flat loop,” which is considered the beginning step in all rope spinning, you will need a three-eighths-inch cotton braided sash cord. For small boys and girls a one-fourth-inch rope will do. Use a rope from: 13 to 15 feet long, depending on your size. If the rope is new, it should be made more pliable by pulling it back and forth around a post. . x Start the flat loop spin by passing the long part of the rope through the honda as shown. DO NOT DOUBLE IT BACK. Stand with feet slightly apart, and hold the rope as shown in the left hand {llustration. Start spinning the loop in front of you by rotating the right hand in a counter-clockwise movement, then releasing the loop. As the loop widens, feed out the rest of the loop through your right hand until you are turning it between the fingers of that hand. Don't [hurry the spinning, but try, try again! 5 - TOMORROW—Make a Dan Boone Play Long Rifle.
