Apartment Owners’ Decorated Tableware
Group Convenes William H. Book recommended civic spirit, not dependence on the government, ‘to improve growing Indianapolis at the Apartment Owners’ Association meeting yesterday in. Hotel Washington. Executive vice president of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Book spoke on “Our City's Future --Good or Bad?” On the bright side, he praised the city's planned program for studying annexation of the eutlying districts. “Those Chinese walls- those in corporate towns formed by people avoiding city taxes, should be stopped,” he said. “Stumbling Blocks” As stumbling blocks to city progress, he mentioned the thoroughfare system and the city's sewer system. As headaches accompanying growth he mentioned labor and housing shortages. Guests were Ceril 8S. Ober and George E. Freyn, candidates for mayor of Indianapolis; Noble P. Hollister, executive secretary. City Planning Commission, and Harry Claffey, member of the County Planning Commission.
