ministration which recently was made the sole importer of natural rubber, and Price Stabilizer Michael DiSalle. ’

The material involved is latex— rubber in the natural liquid state. Besides its long-time use as a coating for the threads in ladies’ foundation garments, latex also is usedy for surgical gloves and surgical] tubing, and it makes the only kihd of foam rubber pillow that doesn’t smell. Mr. DiSalle recently learned that Mr. Larson was thinking of raising the price at which his agency resells latex to the U.S ‘trade. Mr. Larson's reason was that he was having to pay more for latex in the Far East rubberproducing areas than the fixed price at which he was reselling it. "The General Services Administration. he said, was not in the husiness of subsidizing manufacturers. even the gentlemen who make two-way stretches. Never‘heless, he agreed that if he hould find it necessary to raise ‘he price. he would give Mr. DiSalle two weeks’ notice. The notice was given Apr. 1, to he effective last Sunday. But this week Mr. DiSalle asked Mr. Larson to give him more time to think it over. Mr. Larson has agreed to wait. while not concedng that Mr. DiSalle has authority to control another government agency's prices. Would Hit Public a Mr. Larson wants to sell the latex he is importing at 89.7 cents a pound. He's been selling it 2 to 5 cents lower. The higher cost, almost inevitably, would be reflected in the prices at which latex products are sold to the public. The General Services Adminis-
