Cold Tracksters Get
Warren Central
Takes 3-Way Affair
By JIMMIE ANGELOPOLOUS The word “nippy” among yesterday's local prep track con-
stituents wasn't confined only to
the frisky breezes.
Heated competition keynoted the cindermen’s efforts despite
sunny but chilly weather as the
tracksters battled time and. un-
geasonable cold temperatures to get in some much-needed track work. The Washington-Shortridge dual-mecet, won by the Continentals,
67 to 50 at Shortridge, was much closer than the score, and Warren Central's 70'2 points at home scarcely towered over Southport's 601, in a three-way affair with Crispus Attucks, which scored 34 points. In Tech's rivalry clash with Anderson, the Indians piled up a 71 to 46 victory at Tech, but had
to rely on power in the field events. The Indians won nine of the 12 places in the four field events, slamming the high jump
and winning all four firsts. But bath teams shared in some fancy capers. Tech's Dick Tinnel, with a slight tail-wind, clicked off the 220 in 22.4, tying the present
mate Stan Feezle Jr. running the third leg lost the slight lead before Shortridge’s Jack Praed and Washington's Tom Crampton anchored their teams homeward in a near-photo finish. Praed, behind four yards, missed taking Crampton by a breath. Crampton is recuperating from a nose operation. Warren Central had to win both relay events from Southport to win the triangular squabble, but Attucks had the only double winner. He was Gus Anderson, who won both hurdles. Speedway went outside the county to open its outdoor season successfully. The Sparkplugs
