Clears Up GOP

Factional Issue

Prosecutor Frank Fairchild today announced he will support Judge Alex M, Clark for the Republican mayoralty nomination at the May 8 primary. His pronouncement cleared up a major question mark in the factional lines of the {GOP here. Prosecutor Fairchild had been regarded as “on the fence” in the mavoralty contest between Judge Clark and Ceril 8. (Cy) Ober furniture dealer and party leader many years, A vear ago Mr. Fairchild won the prosecutor nomination in a fight against the regular organization that {s- now supporting Judge Clark “Effective law enforcement entaile complete co-operation between the offices of Mayor. Sheriff and Prosecutor,” ‘Mr, Fairchild zaid. “It is my opinion that the experience of Judge Clark on the hench and with police particularly qualifies him to cope with the lawenforcement problem we have in Indianapolis.”

Air Force Plane Crashes in West

FAIRFIELD, Cal.. Apr. 16 (UP) An Air Force C-47 carrying at least three persons crashed near Travis Air Base shortly before midnight, the Air Force announced today. One of the men was injured eritically and the condition of the others was not known. The plane was flying from Riverside Cal. to Hamilton Field when it crashed about 11 p. m., apparently between Benicia and Cordelia, Cal. A Hamilton Field spokesman said the plane had five men aboard when it left Riverside.

However, only three were beHeved on the piane when it crashed.

Hold 2 Club Workers in Theft of $13,000

NEW YORK. Apr. 18 (UP)— The night watchman and cashler of a racquet and tennis club were charged today with stealing some $13,000 from the club safe Friday! night. : Police said watchman Daniel Donnellan. 66, signed a statement admitting his part in the robbery and implicating cashier Louis Tacon. * Tacon denied he had any part in the theft, which netted the thieves $2600 in cash and the remainder in travelers’ checks.
