Former Foreign Secretary Ernest Bevin Dies
Burden of Old Job Broke His Health
By TALBOT HOOD * United Press Staff Correspondent LONDON, Apr. 14— Former Secretary Ernest Bevin who became a sick and broken man under the burden of guiding British diplomacy during the cold war between Russia and the West, died today of a heart attack. He was 70. The grand old man-of the Labor Party died a little more than a month after Prime Minister Clement Attlee reluctantly accepted his resignation and appointed him to the office of Lord Privy Seal, a post he held at death, The 70-year-old trade unionist boss had been ill for several years, but the end itself came unexpectedly.
