HE “HEREUNTO” of our text is a call to a way of life that is described in the verses preceding this one and which became the common pattern of both individual and ‘group existence among the followers of Christ. : Patience under persecution, the unwillingness to fight back against one's enemies, high respect toward government, and supreme devotion to God's will had been observed and Jmpressed upon them from the Master Himself, His Spirit and His Word had so completely taken hold of them that their, total life and thought revolved about Him as a center. Everyone from the king on down Is talking about honesty, | but hardly any are willing personally to face the demand. “I will do it if the other fellow will,” is about what we hear.

Our writer says, the other fellow, Jesus Christ, has done | it, now you do it, too. It cost | Him dearly, but it was worth | it.
