The city will invest another

$123.310 in parking meters.

terday when the Works Board awarded a contract for 2200 parkfng meters for $56.05 each. It went to the low bidder, M. M. Rhodes, Inc. of Hartford, Conn, | Rhodes meters are those now! In use in downtown Indianapolis. | Also Approved by the Works Board were $138,129 in contracts, to resurface Senate Ave. from

tracts went to William D. Vogel Construction Co., $125,709 for surfacing outer lanes, and Indiana Asphalt Paving Co., Inc., $12,420 for the center strip. Indiana Asphalt also received a $12,628 contract for resurfacing New York St. from Blake St. to Beauty Ave.

‘Big Mo’ Crew Tests Land Legs . On West Coast

LONG BEACH, Cal. Apr. 13 (UP)—Crew members from the mighty battleship Missouri roamed the streets of Long Beach and Los Angeles today, enjoying their first stateside liberty in eight months. Tomorrow the dreadnaught and her 2000-man complement will sail for their home port, Norfolk, Va., via the Panama Canal. At Norfolk. the Missouri will undergo an overhaul. About 500 men were granted leave last night and hundreds more took liberty today. The 55,000-ton warship was eanopied by roaring jet airplanes and flanked by a flotilla of esecorting craft when she sailed into the harbor here vesterday, ending 8 tour of duty off Korea where she pounded Communist forces with 3000 tons of high explosives. As bands played and tearful families of the crew cheered, the *Big Mo” was honored with a givic reception that her skipper. Capt. George C. Wright. described 8s “heartwarming and thrilling.” Vice Adm. Arthur D. Struble, who made the Missouri his flagship while commanding the Tth Fleet in the Orient. refused comment on Gen. Douglas MacArthur's removal except to say, *I have served under Gen. MacArthur. He is a great military officer.” Adm. Struble will take command of the 1st Fleet at San Diego. Calif.

3 More Hoosiers Killed in Korea

Three more Hoosier GIs have been killed in Korean action. The Department of Defense today listed: KILLED IN ACTION Pvt. Paul E. Baker, son of Edgar L. Baker. Ft. Wayne. Pfc. William E. Beck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Beck, Mooreville. Pvt, James Brazil. son of Mrs. Ruth Brazil, Gary.

14 Butler Students Enter Honor Society

Fourteen Butler University students have been elected to &hi Kappa Phi, national scholastic honor society, Prof. Emma Lou Thornbrough, secretary of the local chapter, announced today. Membership in the organization is limited in the top 10 per cent of! the senior class.
