By United Press SAN FRANCISCO, Apr. 13 — The FBI has broken up a daring escape plot involving guards on Alcatraz Island, but the situation on the “rock” is “potentially explosive,” it was announced today. Assistant U. 8. Attorney Charles O'Gara said one guard has been .|arrested and a second prison.employee will be seized today. |" The escape plot came to light, Mr. O'Gara said, after an investigation resulted in the arrest Wednesday of Guard Lee McCandless, 41) on a charge of |smuggling a prisoner’s letter out of the island prison in San Francisco Bay.
