into a nine-inch pie plate, resérv---
ing about one-fourth of the mix“ture to sprinkle over the top. Chill while preparing filling. Milling: One (seven and one fourth ounce) package pitted dates, cut fine with scissors; one tablespoon flour, one-half cup sugar, dash of salt, one-half cup water and one-half cup sherry or one cup water, grated rind of one orange, one tablespoon orange
juice, one cup chopped walnuts or,
pecans. Combine all ingredients except nuts in a saucepan. Bring to a boll, then cook, stirring frequently, for about 15 minutes, or until mixture is quite thick, Remove from heat; add nuts Cool. Pour filling into graham cracker crust and sprinkle reserved crumb mixture over the top. Chill for several ‘hours before serving. Serve topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Makes one (nine-inch) pie. This is rich and delicious!
