Lafayette Soldier Gets Bronze Star

A Lafayette soldier combatcorrespondent has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal for outstanding service in providing publicity for frontline fighting men. He is Cpl. Edward A. Cavanaugh, son of Mr. and Mrs. E, A. Cavanaugh. A member of the First Cavalry Division, he covered the front-line happenings from Sept. 25 to Nov. 2. Cpl. Cavanaugh did far more, work than was required of him, according to the citation, in order to maintain favorable divisional public relations. A graduate of the armed forces public information school, he is former editor of the Jefferson High School ‘Booster.”

Cpl. Willlam B. Baugh Jr. whose. parents live in Zionsville, has been awarded the Air Medal for participating in flights over enemy territory in Korea, Attached to the First Marine Division, hé“1s a member of the 1st Air Delivery Platoon, Service Command. From Sept. 28 to Nov. 28 he made frequent flights at low altitudes in an unarmed plane in order to deliver urgently needed supplies to the front lines, according to the citation.
